I switched up to my 17 and it was devastating. Loved running the V-22 and made a few 150ish yard shots. Beyond that, i was connecting but not getting real clean kills. The wolf seemed fine out to about 50 yards. Took my vudoo with Wolf MT, and my CZ452 17hmr. Needless to say they are usually more than a bit surprised.Recently spent a day squirrel hunting (northern california ground squirrels). IF they can shoot and depending on the ammo, groups typically decrease by up to 60 percent. I'm retired so I have lots of time and if they can shoot, I've let them shoot my rifle for themselves to see what happens. Then I hit them with the hammer and tell them that when I change ammo brands I have to "season" the barrel with the new ammo for a few shots before the rifle will produce its best groups and yeah, I usually get the "uh-huh" look. That REALLY gets the conversation going as apparently quite a few folks don't realize how particular a 22 can be (accuracy wise) based on the ammo used. The next question is what kind of accuracy I get and I talk about a particular ammo as it's "ammo sensitive". The conversation at the range usually starts with someone asking "what kind of rifle is that?" when they see my tricked out 10/22. I know there are people who still think this is a bunch of BS but I've demonstrated this on more than one occasion shooting from a bench. I find it usually takes (unfortunately) around 20 shots to get the rifle to its potential for that particular brand. I do it at the range by shooting the rifle. Circular worked better than the diamond shape, and a thick circle of at least one inch seemed to be best, shrinking the group from 1.33 in the initial test to a best of 1.08 in the second test.
